Hunting leases

The Matthews Ranch offers, as available, long-term hunting leases that provide year-around access to all legal game, including not only our intensively-managed whitetail deer population, but also axis, blackbuck, turkey, quail, dove, and feral hogs, as well as bobcats and coyotes.   We pride ourselves on providing you with an enjoyable, successful hunting experience.   Operating under a MLDP Level III  permit, we work closely with TPWD wildlife biologists to set the annual harvest quotas, based on the results of extensive monitoring using game camera, helicopter, and range condition surveys.   These quotas vary somewhat from year to year based on survey results, but they typically range from 25-35 bucks and a similar number of does.  We provide detailed information about culls, management bucks, and trophy bucks to be harvested in the expectation that  you will  be active partners with us in our deer management program.  We provide numerous safely accessible, low-level blinds located strategically throughout the ranch to enhance your hunting experience.  We also provide a very comfortable three bedroom, two bath hunting lodge for your exclusive, year-around use, as well as a large walk-in cooler and lighted cleaning station.
